The one I have just clings on to every hair it goes through, and seems to scrape through it and just snap a whole lot of it. It was 125 bucks and let me tell you, it stinks.

Chi is a really good type of flat iron. I own a sedu and it works really good also. Either of these are good ones that I have used. They range from $125-175
