well i am an african american i wouldnt say my hair is nappy at all i just have ALOT of hair my hair is midway long i get relaxers every now and then my friends always tell me my hair is long and i should get it flat ironed my mom says NO because it will break off and my friend say it wont i just dont know! will it break off or not?Does getting your hair flat ironed make it break?

As an African American woman who has her hair relaxed, flat ironing your hair will cause your hair to break. What happens is that if you take large portions of your hair and put it between the two ';irons';, it will only press down the hair, no smooth it out.
To prevent major damage, put a small amount of olive oil on the hair, nickle size and massage it into the scalp; take small portions of your hair and flat iron it, putting a slight curve on the end to create a bump.
Make sure your flat iron is not too hot to burn your hair. Good luck!
ok no ur hair will not break off it just that u will burn ur hair if u flat iron it a lot
but once in a while will not kill ur hair
